Bournemouth University’s student run Law Society held their annual Christmas Ball at the De Vere Royal Bath Hotel in Bournemouth on Thursday 8 December. There was a great turnout with around 200 guests, including Guests of Honour Lord and Lady Neuberger.
Lord Neuberger, the Master of the Rolls, gave a very inspirational speech, sharing his past experiences and offering advice to the aspiring law students. Lord Neuberger also explained the statements recently published in the media, regarding the increase of diversity in the judiciary.
A raffle was held to raise money for the Dorset based charity, Mosaic, which helps to support children of bereaved family members. A total of £300 was raised and the prizes were impressive, ranging from vintage wine to a Dell computer monitor. Extended thanks go out to all the businesses who donated for this worthy cause.
Sue Warnock, the University’s Framework Leader for the undergraduate Law courses, is also the trustee for the charity.
The Law Society Ball is an annual event and in 2010 Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers attended. We look forward to the 2012 Ball!
