Annual Business School Careers Fair is a success

The 2013 Business School Careers Fair took place today, Wednesday 6 February, in Kimmeridge House on Talbot Campus.

The event was attended by all our key industry partners – companies who between them employ over 500 of our placement students and graduates. These include:

The Careers Fair is a fantastic opportunity for staff to meet with industry representatives and network, but, more importantly, provides an avenue for our current students to chat to the exhibiting companies about placement and career opportunities.

BU launches CIPPM Spring Lectures 2013

The annual series of the Centre for Intellectual Property & Policy Management’s (CIPPM) Spring Lectures starts on Thursday 21 February at 6pm.

Thursday 21 February – “Ae fond kiss: a private matter?”, Prof. Hector MacQueen (University of Edinburgh)

Thursday 21 March – “Europeanisation and legal methodology in IP”, Dr. Justine Pila (University of Oxford)

Thursday 25 April – “Litigation of patents essential to technical standards – what is the future for patent trolls?”, Dr. Nicholas Saunders (Brick Court Chambers)

All lectures take place on at 18:00, in the Executive Business Centre, close to the Bournemouth Travel Interchange (89 Holdenhurst Road, BH8 8EB).

The lectures are free to attend, but places are limited, and admission to the building closes at 18:15. If you wish to reserve a place, please contact Mandy Lenihan.

BU hosts Win-Win Workshop – exploring real-life Business Community projects

This workshop, sponsored by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and BU’s Business School, aims to explore the lessons learnt from facilitating action-learning through real-life Business Community projects and equip participants with the skills to confidently plan and manage projects of their own.

Action-learning and experiential project management, exploited through real-life community projects, can substantially underpin the development of management competencies in undergraduate students whilst fostering their personal and professional development. Cross-discipline projects not only benefit the students involved but also the local community, as well as the University’s status within the wider community and cross-collaboration across internal departments.

The workshop will be stimulating, interactive and will provide attendees with an excellent networking opportunity. It is open to academics from other HEIs.

Ernst & Young sponsor the inaugural Business School Careers Fair – Wednesday 25 April 2012
