The IFITT Doctoral Summer School provides all participants a unique platform for knowledge and idea exchange in the field of Travel and Tourism technologies,  and a great opportunity to network with early career researchers from across the globe. The summer school will provide inspirational and practical insights on the current and future technological trends. Early-career researchers will familiarise with various research methodologies and will be introduced to the world of academic journal editors. Parallel sessions will help in sharing and discussing research ideas,  and will provide participants with valuable and topic-specific feedback on their research.

The social program will include surfing classes, beach volleyball and a Jurassic Coast Excursion.

In order to take part in the parallel sessions participants will be asked to submit a short abstract (from 500 to 800 words – See call for abstracts for details). Accepted abstracts will be assembled in an online publication “Letters from IFITT Doctoral School 2013”.

In 2010, the first edition of the INVTUR Conference attracted academics from 25 countries, 335 authors, and more than 700 participants. The Journal of Tourism and Development (‘Revista Turismo & Desenvolvimento’) published a total of 196 works, organised in 77 full-papers, 93 extended abstracts, and the summary of 26 posters. All papers were subject to double-blind revision, following international standards. The INVTUR 2010 Conference was the largest tourism academic conference ever organised in Portugal and one of the largest in the world.

The second edition of INVTUR International Conference will be held in the University of Aveiro in 16th – 19th May 2012 and will again involve several colleagues from Portuguese and foreign universities. From 2012 onwards, INVTUR will be jointly organized by the University of Aveiro (Portugal), University of Bournemouth (UK), University of São Paulo (Brazil) and University of Goa (India),

The INVTUR 2012 International Conference will be positioned as a conference where academics, researchers and practitioners will be presenting, and discussing, knowledge, experiences and best-practices illustrating how tourism may assist the economy and the society in times of change and uncertainty. The outputs of the conference will be of particular interest for academics and researchers to set up new research and teaching agendas, and for the industry and governments to find new sources of knowledge to give them competitive advantage in a world where they must be more innovative, efficient and effective.

Following the former edition, all submitted works will be blind refereed.
