Professor Seán Street

Professor Seán Street will feature on Radio 4’s ‘Midweek’ with Libby Purves tomorrow morning at 9am to talk about his new book ‘The Poetry of Radio- The Colour of Sound’.

The book explores the imaginative connections between radio and poetry, looking at how poets have used sound since before the printed word, providing narrative through the music of the world that surrounds us.

Tim Crook, of Goldsmith’s College, University of London comments, “This book will be a lasting treasure for students, professionals and artists in the field of radio and sound programme making. It is a brilliant and masterful achievement.’

Professor Seán Street began teaching at Bournemouth University as a Professor of Radio in 1987 and retired in October 2011, keeping his Professor status for his commitment to the University.

‘The Poetry of Radio- The colour of Sound’ promises to provide both historical and international insights into radio as a poetic medium, with Seán drawing on his own experience of over 40years of programme making.
