Prof Dean PattonHead of the Centre for Entrepreneurshipdpatton@bournemouth.ac.uk Dr Dean Patton has worked in the field of entrepreneurship and small firms for over two decades; involved in both the research and the teaching of the subject. Over that period his work, in collaboration with a number of academics, has been disseminated at conferences and through journal articles, books and reports. The research undertaken has been applied in nature and he has worked closely with agencies charged with supporting entrepreneurial activity both regionally and nationally. Recent research has been closely aligned to government policy that is aimed at developing the knowledge based economy and the commercialisation of research ideas. Dean is currently undertaking funded research from the SETsquared partnership to evaluate the incubation process and the development of management teams in high-growth early stage firms. |
Nicola KingResources Administrator (CfE)nking@bournemouth.ac.uk My role involves administering the day-to-day running of the Centre for Entrepreneurship, ensuring that we are providing an efficient and effective service for our physical and virtual tenants, and I also provide administrative support to the Head of the Centre for Entrepreneurship. I am located in the Welcome Area of the Executive Briefing Centre, so I have an overview of the meetings taking place there, and I am on hand to deal with any queries that visitors using the meeting rooms may have. Prior to joining the University I worked in a variety of roles across the private and public sector. I spent eight or nine years in the NHS and in local government in an information analysis/management capacity, and I have also worked for two large North American organisations in the telecoms and banking sectors. I actually gained my first degree, a BA (Hons) in Business Studies, from Bournemouth University many years ago! I also have a MSc (Econ) in Health Information Management from the University of Wales (Aberystwyth). Outside of the workplace, my young son and husband keep me pretty busy, and I also enjoy long walks in the country, writing and exploring my creative side.

Mark PainterHead of the Centre for Entrepreneurshipmpainter@bournemouth.ac.uk I currently enjoy two roles at BU – one as Centre for Entrepreneurship Manager and the other as Business Development Manager for The Business School. Both roles require networking and meeting with local businesses to explore and identify productive engagement opportunities for BU. I am keen to support and work with other Schools within BU and so I am always pleased to have the chance to catch up with colleagues whenever I can. Prior to joining BU, I enjoyed careers as a Business Adviser, Building Society Manager and Long Haul Purser with BA. Most of my spare time, (and energy!), is spent looking after my family of two lively boys and a step daughter. Whenever we get the rare chance for a bit of time on our own, my partner, Ali, and I like to get away to London for the day. |
Nikki GloynsResources Administratorngloyns@bournemouth.ac.uk In the Research Development Unit role I support the Finance & Resources Officer, based in Melbury House. In the afternoons you can find me located in the Welcome Area of the Executive Briefing Centre, where I support events taking place through the CfE, supporting the Centre for Entrepreneurship Manager, and also being a first point of contact for any queries that the 6th floor tenants may have. Prior to joining the University I worked in a HR Assistant role at the RNLI in Poole, and before that I was a Business Studies student at Bournemouth University, where I gained a BA (Hons) Business Studies! Outside of work I enjoy going to music and comedy gigs, watching films, shopping and dining out with friends and family. |
