NIHR Grant Applications – seminar and support event

Are you planning to submit a grant application to NIHR?

BU is hosting a one-day event at the Executive Business Centre on Tuesday 24 March 2020 . This event is aimed at helping you to improve your chances of success.

The morning seminar session is open to anyone to come and hear advisers give presentations on what makes a good grant proposal. Topics covered will include:

  • what does the NIHR look for?
  • the application as a marketing document: selling the topic,  method, and team
  • details of the team
  • public involvement
  • clarity of description and explanation
  • feasibility issues
  • identifying and avoiding potential pitfalls.

The afternoon support session of one-to-one appointments is for those who would like to discuss their own proposal with an adviser. If you are interested in this opportunity, appointments need to be booked in advance by selecting the appropriate option on the registration form and you will be asked to supply in advance a brief description of your project idea.

Seminar event 10.30am to 12.45pm
Lunch 12.45pm to 1.30pm
1:1 appointments – booked in advance 1.30pm to 3.30pm

This event is FREE and refreshments and lunch will be provided. Places are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. In order to secure your place please register using our online form by 1pm, 16 March 2020.

This event is part of the Research and Knowledge Exchange Development Framework (RKEDF), and is delivered by the NIHR Research Design Service South West (RDS-SW). Your local branch of the RDS-SW is located in the Bournemouth University Clinical Research Unit.
