Last week, Dr Constantina Panourgia from the Department of Psychology was invited by the Bahçeşehir University (Early Childhood Education Department) in Turkey to deliver a lecture on the early experiences of poverty. The talk focussed on the environment of poverty, factors related to it and how their combined effect shapes development. Constantina also presented the findings of one of her studies that explored the protective role of early career aspirations in the relationship between poverty and psychological resilience in children. It was a great opportunity for knowledge exchange and research dissemination with a potential for a further collaboration between the Departments.
