These frequesntly asked questions (FAQs) have been produced to provide answers to common questions related to the REF and BU’s preparations for submission. They are to be read alongside the BU REF2014 Code of Practice document, which sets out how BU will ensure a transparent, consistent, accountable and inclusive process for preparing for and submitting to the REF. The Code of Practice is available from the BU Research Blog and from the BU Staff Intranet. A link to the Code is also available at the bottom of each FAQ topic (detailed below).
The questions have been grouped around a number of topics, which you will see if you hold your cursor over the REF/FAQs link above. Simply click on the link to reveal the questions and corresponding answers. The available topics are as follows:
- REF overview
- Staff eligibility
- Mock REF exercises at BU
- Assessment of outputs
- Staff selection
- Equality and diversity
These FAQs will be updated periodically to reflect any additional questions or issues that arise prior to the REF submission deadline in 2013, and beyond. If the information you’re looking for is not currently in this document, please email Julie Northam in the BU Research Development Unit.
