Finding funding opportunities
There are numerous sources of research funding; from research councils, charities, the government and the Europe Union. The most critical aspects to contemplate when looking for research funding are to ensure the research idea is in keeping with the funders remit and that you match their eligibility criteria.

The most effective way to keep up to date with funding opportunities in your research area is by registering with Research Professional. This is a website which allows you to search for research relevant to you in the form of News, Funding Opportunities, Sponsors or Jobs. The search works in much the same way as a search engine; once a phrase is entered results are displayed in order of relevance.
We automatically create accounts for all academic staff and set up automatic searches based on the research keywords of your Academic Group and/or primary Research Centre. In addition, you will be able to add your own specialist search terms to your account. You will receive weekly emails from Research Professional with information about funding opportunities within your research area. Corrina Dickson manages the Research Professional account and is happy to answer any queries you may have about using the system.
To access Research Professional simply click on the hyperlinks or the logo.
For further information about Research Professional please visit the Finding Research Funding pages on the BU Research Intranet.
