Summer Science Exhibition 2022 call for proposals is now open.

The Summer Science Exhibition is the Royal Society’s flagship public engagement event which takes place in July every year at the prestigious home of the Royal Society in central London. The Royal Society are looking for researchers to take part in their festival celebrating the cutting-edge of UK science.

Taking place between 4 – 10 July 2022, the Exhibition provides an excellent opportunity to engage a variety of audiences with your research, including members of the public, school groups, policy makers and potential funders and fellows of the Royal Society.

Each year, the Royal Society welcome thousands of visitors through their doors and reach many more through national coverage on TV or in the media. This is a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of UK research and gain valuable experience communicating with diverse audience groups.

Exhibit your research at the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition – deadline: 10 September

The Royal Society are looking for researchers to showcase the UK’s leading research at the Royal Society’s Summer Science Exhibition 2020. Could your work be the next cutting-edge exhibit?

The Exhibition is the Society’s flagship public engagement event with more than 14,000 visitors each year. In the past, exhibitors have featured in media such as The One Show, The Guardian and The Daily Mail. The exhibition provides a unique opportunity to raise the profile of your research and institution with key influencers, including potential funders, government and the public. They welcome proposals from researchers in academia, industry and in between, as long as the project lead is UK-based.

The deadline for proposals is 3pm Tuesday 10 September, 2019.

Selection will be based on:

Quality and cutting edge science
The most important component: the science on show should be novel, robust and ground-breaking
Interactive and hands-on elements
Wherever possible, exhibits should contain elements that visitors can touch and try out to understand the scientific concepts behind the research
Interest to a broad audience
The most successful exhibits are those that are relevant to visitors or their experiences

Have a look at this year’s exhibitors to see some of the inspiring research they’re looking for. Exhibiting your work here is a significant project, with months of work leading up the the event and high expectations for the quality of stands. You will need a committed team of people and an ambitious vision for your exhibit.

However, take this is a fair warning rather than off-putting; the Royal Society will help you every step of the way, from submitting your proposal to designing an exhibit.

Summer Science Exhibition – Call for proposals open now

The Royal Society is looking for brilliant science and scientists to feature at the Summer Science Exhibition 2018.

The Exhibition features the UK’s most inspiring research and is a chance for scientists to showcase their work to over 14,000 people, including everyone from school children and families to MPs and Fellows of the Royal Society. Exhibitors are supported throughout the process and get dedicated support, advice and guidance from our Exhibition team.

It’s a great event to be part of, but as our motto (Nullius in verba) urges, don’t take our word for it. A 2017 exhibitor said:

“The whole week of the exhibition was fabulous. All our team thoroughly enjoyed the event and it has been a memorable experience for us. We have learned a lot from this.”

The call for proposals closes on 1 September 2017 and the Exhibition will run from 2 – 8 July 2018.
